Biography.
My music career started when I was 12 when I first picked up
a guitar
and learned a few choards.
Through the rest of my school life I slowly taught myself guitar from
books and magazine tutorials.
I played in many rock bands at this time and learned a lot about
production and recording.
Later on in 1994 the dance music scene was getting big in Oxford and I
had just finished school.
I went to many free outdoor parties where I heard many different genres
of music including Dub, Drum and Bass, Techno, House and Trance.
Trance quickly became my favourite and I decided to have a go at
D.J.ing myself.
I had many friends who were also into D.J.ing and we formed a
collective and in 1995 we put on our own free parties at Port meadow in
Oxford.
We became popular in Oxford and continued to play music at venues such
as The Cellar, North gate hall, Port meadow and many private parties.
When I was 19 the collective lost touch with each
other and we went our
separate ways.
I decided at this time to have a go at writing my own Psytrance.
Having been to quite a few clubs in Brixton over the years, Return to
the source, Escape from samsara ect, Psytrance had become my preferred
genre.
I started using only hardware to produce my music.
I used a Roland MC303 and a Yamaha sampler.
I continued to write using this set up for the next 8 years but found
it very limiting.
2 years ago I added a microKorg to the set up and a mixer.
This greatly improved the sound but was still a bit limiting.
Then last year I finally got myself a computer and some good
software.
I can now produce the music I want to with this set up and have gone on
to produce my own website Simon Rowe Psytrance at
http://www.scrowe.co.uk to showcase my music.
I have used the internet to promote my music and have attracted a lot
of interest from D.J.s, other musicians and fans of the Psytrance
genre.
I continue to promote online and hope to soon start selling my music
and making a bit of money from doing it.
